WOW Organisation Launches Nationwide Initiative to Support Girls’ Menstrual Health

Posted: 20 Oct, 2025

The Women of Will (WOW) Organisation has unveiled the WOW Pad Bank Project as part of its #WOWCaresInitiative, a nationwide campaign aimed at improving menstrual health awareness, tackling period poverty, and empowering young girls across Nigeria.
The project officially began yesterday at Unity Senior Secondary School in Ajeromi Ifelodun, Lagos, where hundreds of students received free sanitary pads along with practical education on menstrual hygiene.

The programme seeks to ensure that no girl is forced to miss school due to her period, a challenge that continues to affect millions of students in underprivileged communities.

Deborah Jayeoba, Team Lead at WOW, highlighted that the initiative goes beyond simply providing sanitary products. “This initiative is about dignity, confidence, and equality. Every girl should be able to attend school without fear or shame linked to her menstrual cycle,” she stated.

Founder Aare Olayinka Odeajo reaffirmed the organisation’s dedication to creating lasting impact. He noted that the project will continue in the coming weeks, reaching more schools across Lagos with hygiene kits, educational sessions, and empowerment talks.

“When girls receive the support they need, they remain in school, gain confidence, and develop into strong women capable of making meaningful contributions to society,” Odeajo added.

The WOW Pad Bank Project forms part of a broader strategy by WOW to advance gender equality, education, and community health through sustainable, grassroots-led programmes.

Educators, parents, and public health advocates have praised the campaign as a critical step toward dismantling the stigma surrounding menstruation in Nigerian communities.

As the initiative grows, WOW Organisation plans to collaborate with schools, government bodies, and private partners to ensure that every Nigerian girl has access to the tools and confidence needed to manage her menstrual health with pride.
