Fifty women aged 40 and above received financial assistance during a community outreach organised by Kuku Cares Foundation in collaboration with Women of Will (WOW) Organisation at Ita-Elewa, Ikorodu, Lagos, on Monday, 2 November 2026.

The initiative was aimed at providing immediate financial relief to women experiencing economic hardship and struggling to meet their everyday needs, while creating opportunities to explore more sustainable ways of improving their livelihoods.
Founder of Kuku Cares Foundation, Mrs Akunna Nwala Akano, was present at the outreach, where she interacted with the beneficiaries, encouraged them and personally distributed the financial support. The engagement also provided an opportunity for the women to share their personal experiences and discuss some of the challenges they encounter in providing for themselves and their families.
For Women of Will (WOW) Organisation, the outreach reflects its commitment to empowering women, particularly those whose economic circumstances limit their access to opportunities and essential support. Through initiatives like this, WOW continues to champion practical interventions that respond to women’s needs and create pathways towards greater financial independence.
WOW Team Lead, Deborah Jayeoba, welcomed the collaboration, emphasising the importance of partnerships in extending support to women at the grassroots. She highlighted the need for organisations to come together, pool resources and develop initiatives that go beyond temporary assistance to create lasting impact in women’s lives.
The Rotary Club of Shomolu, Lagos, led by its President, Rtn. Adetola Adesanya, also supported the outreach by providing logistical assistance that contributed to the successful coordination of the programme. Its involvement further demonstrated the value of community partnerships in advancing initiatives that address social and economic challenges.
Beyond receiving financial assistance, the beneficiaries had the opportunity to share their experiences, express their interests and discuss areas where additional support would be beneficial. Some of the women also expressed their appreciation in post-event interviews, describing what the intervention meant to them and their families.
While the financial assistance provided immediate relief, WOW Organisation recognises that sustainable empowerment requires more than one-time support. Equipping women with vocational skills, providing access to training and creating opportunities for small-scale businesses can help them develop independent sources of income and build greater financial security.
Consequently, the proposed follow-up vocational training is an important part of the initiative’s broader vision. It presents an opportunity to build on the outreach by helping interested beneficiaries acquire practical skills that can support their economic growth.
For WOW Organisation, the collaboration with Kuku Cares Foundation represents another step towards building a community where women are not only celebrated but also supported, empowered and given opportunities to thrive.
The outreach reached 50 women with financial assistance, but the vision extends beyond the support distributed that day. It is about creating opportunities for women to become more financially independent, strengthening their livelihoods and ensuring that they have the resources and support to build a better future.
At WOW, we believe that when women are supported, communities grow stronger.
