Popular Media, PR, and Investor Relations Executive, Yinka Odeajo launched an impactful and community empowerment initiative, WOWCares in Surulere Local Government, Lagos State, Nigeria, last Thursday, December 12, 2024. Powered by WOW Organisation, a newly established NGO founded with the vision of breaking societal limitations, and bridging the gap between possibility and action for women and children, the initiative brought renewed hope and joy to women and children in Surulere.

With a focus on giving back to the community, WOW Organisation distributed economic palliatives and end-of-the-year gift items to those in need. The event, described as deeply fulfilling, highlighted Odeajo’s generosity, with many beneficiaries expressing heartfelt gratitude for the much-needed support.

Yinka Odeajo, whose visionary philanthropy and dedication to has been widely felt impacting various African and marginalized communities in the diaspora expressed his readiness to do more for the Surulere community where he spent a large part of his formative years before relocating to the Republic of Ireland.

The Executive Chairman of Surulere Local Government, Hon. Bamidele Suleiman Yusuf, commended Odeajo, for his kind gestures saying, “many thanks to Mr. Yinka Odeajo and the WOWCares Initiative team for putting smiles on the faces of the Surulere Local Government women.”

“There are few people who work privately and also give back to the community out of the little they have. Mr. Yinka Odeajo is one of the few. We are grateful for this extension of grace in the form of the palliatives distributed to the women,” he added

Dignitaries present at the event included Prince Muiz Adewale Dosumu, Vice Chairman of Surulere Local Government; Mr. Kehinde Agoro, Secretary of Surulere Local Government; Hon. Saaka Oluwa; Hon. Adewusi; Hon. Dehinde Labinjo; and Mr. Yinka Jonathan. Together, they celebrated the success of the initiative, emphasizing its transformative impact on the community. The event also served as a platform to champion economic and social empowerment for women and children, reaffirming the importance of collective efforts in fostering change.

Odeajo’s leadership and philanthropic spirit have been the driving force behind WOWCares. As the first Black male president of the Rotary Club of Crawley, he has consistently demonstrated a commitment to empowering individuals and bridging social and economic gaps. From his early days at Surulere Baptist Primary School to his higher education at the University of Kent, his journey has been marked by a deep passion for creating opportunities and uplifting communities.

Under Mr. Odeajo’s leadership, WOW is focused on four pillars of impact: Leadership Development, Economic Empowerment, Advocacy & Awareness, and Networking & Collaboration. By equipping women with leadership skills, supporting female entrepreneurs, and amplifying voices on critical issues like gender equality and education, WOW continues to foster positive change. The Surulere event was a testament to this mission, leaving an indelible mark on all who participated and further cementing Mr. Odeajo’s legacy as a vital advocate for community and women’s empowerment.
