The World Bank has appointed Edith Jibunoh as its new Director of External Affairs for Eastern and Southern Africa. In this senior role, she will lead strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and reputation management across the region.
Jibunoh brings extensive experience from her previous roles at the World Bank and as Global Policy Director at the ONE Campaign, where she championed development advocacy on health, energy, and transparency. She has also served as an adviser to Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and worked with the UN in New York.
Her appointment comes as the World Bank increases its focus on climate financing and sustainable development, aiming to allocate 45% of annual funding toward climate initiatives by 2025. Jibunoh’s leadership is expected to strengthen the Bank’s regional impact and partnerships.
