Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Yvonne moved to Canada at an early age, where she spent a decade before returning to Rwanda in 2003. She pursued higher education at McGill University, earning an Honours BA degree, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Information Technology.

Upon returning to Rwanda, Yvonne began her professional journey as an IT and software developer, quickly demonstrating her technical expertise. She joined MTN Rwanda in 2006, rising through the ranks to become Chief Marketing Officer and eventually serving as acting CEO. Her work in telecommunications highlighted her ability to combine technical knowledge with strategic business insight, setting her apart as a versatile leader.

In April 2017, Yvonne made a bold transition into aviation, joining RwandAir as Deputy CEO in charge of Corporate Affairs. Less than a year later, she was appointed Chief Executive Officer, becoming one of the few women worldwide to lead a major airline.

Despite entering a sector unfamiliar to her, Yvonne embraced the challenge with determination.
